And the music started......
In the home; coming from a strong Christian home, we were used to meeting together as a family to worship. Music was integral; we sang in four part harmonies (there were enough of us); my sister Vanessa played piano, my brother Keith played piano and bass; my Dad occasionally played harmonica. (Stevie Wonder , move over!!!) ; Later on in life we had other instruments such as the trumpet, played by my brother. On occasions there would be more people around with drum kits and guitars. Our own little orchestra. These experiences grounded me musically
At age 7 I started having formal tuition, and then went on from there to do formal training, and professional development.. but the soul, the interest, the foundation was the home experiences. Second to that was the experiences in church, being a part of choirs and groups; Thirdly were the school performances. Each environment had its unique influence.

Any other family members in music?
My sister Vanessa is a primary school teacher, with a focus on music in Texas. A great influence on me, she was. Quite rightly , she won Texas Teacher of the Year a couple of years ago .
Other family members still sing/play on and off. My brother Peter is a bass singer with the Croydon SDA Gospel Choir- he is a primary school head teacher.
My brother, Dr Keith Burton, tells me still gets on the bass and keyboards on occasions.
